Honestly I'd like to see David Foster Wallace get the prize, but I doubt that would ever happen...he died before anyone could see his true potential, though I do believe he has contributed more to the field of writing then almost any modern writer.
Seriously though, with people like DeLillo and Pynchon with no medals around their necks, how can they honestly not think about America? Isn't writing supposed to be about how people respond to their environment?
Heck with Updike and Oates...both great writers, but they have nothing on Pynchon and DeLillo.
