Did You Watch It?

I didn't make it out to the cinema this weekend to see Watchmen, but it seems like everyone else did. Check out Roland (from the book) review of Watchmen...I can say with certainty that he gets one thing right--the My Chemical Romance cover of Dylan's "Desolation Row" is HORRIBLE.

Watch the video below and see for themselve...I think what happened is some guy in a suit said, "Hey, the Watchmen people will pay you a bundle of money if you cover a Bob Dylan song." And they said, "Who the heck is Bob Dylan? He sounds old." And the guy in the suit said, "It doesn't matter. Here's the words. Just play it super fast. The important thing is that you let the guitar sound more important then lyrics." And why did Watchmen pay them lots of money? Because they knew the song would be horrible, and if the movie was bad there is no possible way it could be as bad as the cover.

New Dylan Album Due In April

Proving again that he works harder than basically any artist on Earth, Bob Dylan will have a new album out in late April (this on top of that memoir he's supposedly scribing, the never-ending tour, the radio show he host, and Hank Williams record that he's producing).

According to Rolling Stone, the teen track record will be dark country.

Dylan's Never Ending Load of Stuff

I never grow tired of the never ending amount of stuff there is to buy about Bob Dylan. Diana frequently complains about the amount of space Dylan MP3's take up on the hard drive (FYI, it's over 10 gigs...yes, 10)

So I couldn't be more elated by the news that one of Dylan's more recent drummers (Winston Watson's) will be releasing a DVD that chronicles his years on the Never Ending Tour. Amazon shows it comes out in late March, but I think you can buy it now directly from Watson's website.

Below is a trailer of the documentary.

New Dylan Bootlegs

Fans of Bob Dylan, rejoyce! October 7th will see the release of Dylan's eigth bootleg series CD! Titled "Tell Tale Signs." The two disc set will include songs composed between 1989 and 2006. The CD, as has been the case with all the Bootleg Series CDs, will contain a 60 page booklet.

This isn't big news to anyone who doesn't love Dylan, but Dylan lovers can testify that these CDs are just as good (sometimes better) then studio albums by the bard.

About that Crash...

I'm a sucker for any Bob Dylan news, true or fake; the latest on the rumormill is that he did not actually get in a motorcycle crash. Not exactly new news; people have speculated for years about this claim, but a new book is out that claims to have further proof. Read about it here: http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=572537

As with all alleged Dylan tell all's, one must question whether or not the author is just out to bank on Dylan's name...

And speaking of music stars, this must have been one incredible concert...

Bob Dylan, Take 2

Bob Dylan is at work on Chronicles Vol. 2; those of you who have not picked up the first Chronicles, you are missing out! This book isn't just for Bob Dylan lovers...it's more about the Village and what was going on around Bob Dylan, then Bob Dylan. Bob Dylan's a mystery...he reveals only enough about himself to keep you begging for more.

The current rumor stands that it will be released at the end of 2008. So basically, on top of performing 100+ dates both internationally and domestically, plus working on that Hank Williams CD, plus doing his radio show, he's going to write another book! How many other 66 year-olds are doing this much? Heck how many 20-something year olds are doing this much?

The Other Bob Dylan

I love Bob Dylan. I love 60s Dylan, 70s Dylan, 80s Dylan, 90s Dylan, and 00s Dylan. A lot of people try and forget Gospel Dylan, but it's one of my favorite periods. Watch the video below of Gotta Serve Somebody and judge for yourself.
